Emergency bread: Fast, easy and delicious oil free rye bread

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of rye flour (or whole wheat flour)
  • 1/2 cup of oatmeal
  • 3 tablespoons of muscovado sugar or brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons of coconut oil (optional)
  • Water
  • Seeds and oatmeal for sprinkling on top

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven for 190℃ (400℉).
  2. Mix all the ingredients together. Be careful not to let the salt, apple cider vinegar, and baking soda to be in direct contact with each other, it might compromise the bread raising.
  3. Put the bread in the ovens middle rack for 50 minutes to 1 hour. Remove from the oven and wait at least 30 minutes before serving it.
